#LDSconf and 4 Ways to Be Happier

Had a great two days with #LDSconf happening. Brock can attest, however, to the oddness to the beginning  our weekend. Nothing like a good ol' emotions-bottled-up-got-shaken-but-now-its-all-gonna-explode conversation/date with the hubby.

It was one of those times when things just got too far along and you just needed to finally talk and let it out (let it out... let it out... gonna make an ice dress right nooooow!... wait, wrong lyrics).

No more details about that however. I just wanted to mention the positive thoughts that came out of this weekend. You can guess which ones came from conference and which came from Brock. I'll even tell you if you're right.
  1. Simplify Life by Prioritizing. Spending time wisely is about choosing what is most important, and putting that first. Don't let time slip by and all of the sudden you have no clue what you've done, or you've wasted those precious moments doing things that don't matter, aren't important or are just "putting out fires" (urgent things that aren't important).
  2. Choose Your Attitude. Every day and every hour you can choose to be happy.
  3. Gratitude can Heal a Broken Heart (among other things...) Similar to our choosing our attitude, by choosing to be grateful at all times (rather than only counting our blessings when we are down) we can make the cold, dreary, winter-like times of life seem as wonderful as the warm, inviting tropical rays of sunshine we feel in the spring/summer.
  4. Just Because it's "Nice" Doesn't Mean it's "Necessary". Sure, I could have the worlds best Pinterest of super recipes for cooking meals, or staying organized or creating the ultimate resume... but sometimes we need to take a step back and see what is really giving us traction towards our goals. Imagine your life on your 80th birthday... what do you want people saying about you? How do you want to be remembered?
And I'll leave you with that. What did YOU learn this weekend?
